It is Evelyne Chetrite’s eye for detail that makes every Sandro collection special, feminine, and distinctly French. Growing up in Morocco, fashion drew her in as a little girl. Back then, life was all about warmth, family, and life under the hot sun. When Evelyne was 15, her family moved to Paris. The department store windows in the Opera neighborhood were not far from her home, and the changing fashion trends immediately spoke to her.

As a student, Evelyne held a series of weekend jobs at flea markets and later at shops in Saint Germain des Prés. She felt at home with the entertaining designers and interesting customers that would come back for her expert eye. At University, she met Didier Chetrite, a friend of a friend who soon became her husband. A young entrepreneur, ready for business, he had started up a ready to wear business and was in desperate need of a muse. While in school, Evelyne sought distraction between classes and would come to see him, increasingly offering her opinion.

Their first hit was a series of dresses in patterned patchwork with bubble sleeves that were bohemian chic, loose but with a real style and presence. After their first success, Didier expanded his office and hired a designer to work with Evelyne. Sandro was born in 1984 and opened its first boutique on Rue Vieille du Temple in the heart of the Marais. It has grown to be a label known for feminine, versatile dressing. Today, Sandro has a huge global following with 202 boutiques worldwide.

With the desire to be a part of the family history, Ilan Chétrite, decided to create the Sandro menswear collection in 2008, after graduating from Paris Dauphine University. He is the man behind the seasonal collection of revisited classics with a chic edge.
Ilan inherited his parents sense of style and has always been surrounded by people who love sophistication and have a passion for pretty things.
As a child, his grandfather took him to school every morning, all dressed up, wearing a tie, shirt, well-cut trousers and polished shoes, he always looked impeccable. He had a distinct style and still is his own fashion icon.

The Sandro Men’s shops first launched in the Marais and Saint Germain des Pres areas. The shops have been thought of like a jewel box combined with simple and trendy features. The stores have herringbone floors, painted mirrors and more than 190 styles, along with a selection of art books and music, providing the comfort of a British club, while offering it pieces of the season.

A mother and son’s shared passion for fashion and style is clearly represented in the effortless and complimentary collections they design.
